Pentru a fi acceptati la studii postuniversitare, de obicei, studentilor li se cere sa fi obtinut o clasificare 2:1 sau 2:2 la nivelul de licenta,. La studii de zi, durata unui program postuniversitar de studii poate fi de 1-2 ani, iar sustinerea unui test de Limba Engleza este necesara pentru admitere. Unele programe postuniversitare necesita experienta intr-un anumit loc de munca.

Principalele tipuri de programe postuniversitare sunt: de predare, de cercetare si de conversie.

Programele de predare

Exista doua tipuri de programe postuniversitare de predare: programele de masterat si programele finalizate cu diploma sau certificate postuniversitare. Masteratele de predare in mod normal dureaza timp de 1-2 ani, si implica finalizarea unei dizertatii, sau unui proiect.

Programele de cercetare

Studiile postuniversitare sunt axate in mare masura pe munca individuala de cercetare. Programele postuniversitare de cercetare sunt numite de cele mai multe ori doctorate. Doctoratele pot fi incepute dupa absolvirea unui masterat si pot fi finalizate in 2-4 ani.

Cursurile postuniversitare de conversie

Daca nu detineti cunostintele de nivel de licenta necesare domeniului pe care vreti sa-l urmati la studiile postuniversitare, programele de conversie va ajuta sa va transferati la un nou domeniu de studiu. Programele postuniversitare de conversie dureaza de obicei timp de un an.

Studiile postuniversitare reprezinta o optiune daca va place foarte mult un anumit domeniu si doriti sa avansati, sau daca doriti sa practicati o anumita profesie care necesita acest nivel de studiu.

Postgraduate degree is a degree you study for once you have completed a bachelor’s degree. Students would generally be asked to have achieved a 2:1 or 2:2 at undergraduate level to be considered for studies at this level. If studied on a full-time basis, the duration of a postgraduate study can be between one or two years. An English Language Test is also a requirement for admission. Some courses require you to have some years of experience in certain post.

The main types of postgraduate degrees are: taught courses, research degrees, and conversion courses.

Taught courses

There are two main types of taught courses; master’s degrees and postgraduate diploma or certificates. Taught master’s degrees usually take place over one or two years and mostly involves the completion of a dissertation or project.

Research degrees

Large part of postgraduate study centres on independent research. Research degrees are often referred to as doctorates. Doctorates can be taken after a master’s degree and generally completed over two to four years.

Conversion courses

If you do not have the relevant background knowledge at undergraduate level for the subject you want to study at postgraduate level, postgraduate conversion courses give you the option to transfer to a different subject area. Conversion courses are usually one year taught course.

Postgraduate study is an option if you enjoy a certain subject and want to take it further or if you need the qualification to gain employment in your chosen profession.
